gold rings with ruby cabochon
In London, a fine wire gold ring set with an almadine garnet cabochon (dating from 1150 to 1450) was found in the river Thames (picture 1 and 2). A similar small gold ring set with a red (?) stone is worn by Philippe de Croy (picture 3):
I tried to make two matching gold rings a bit less thin than the London ones. Both rings are set with a small, round ruby cabochon. (at least I managed to match the slightly irregular shape of the socket :-) The rubies appear less pink in real life...
